I suggest you take a look at 99designs. You are essentially hosting a contest online where you will be able to attract a lot of great graphic designers that will submit their concept to you on the website, and you’ll be able to provide feedback, and pick and choose out of many different concepts.
I belong to a local artist co-op kind of group full of designers, artists, painters, sculptors, graphic novel writers, etc. We all support each other and no one (oddly) is in competition. Anyway, I found a really great local illustrator/artist that I am using. Luckily, he’s also open to barter, because he wants me to sew some items for him. So win-win. Online is great, especially if you don’t live in a big city, but being able to sit down with a person and see their portfolio and build a relationship is also great.
